Momma's Tamales

Say hi to Anna & Louis!

About Momma's Tamales

The inspiration behind Momma’s Tamales is none other than Ana Soria’s mother, Leonar Arenas (Momma).

Leonar made tamales her entire life and before she passed, Arenas wanted to ensure her secret recipe was perfected by Ana. Knowing her daughter’s competitive nature, Leonar challenged Ana by saying she could never be able to make tamales as good as hers -- thus starting the adventure of Momma's Tamales.

Ana started to make tamales after tamale, before Momma finally gave her daughter’s tamales her blessing.

Since then, Soria has grown from a part-time business selling at farmers markets to opening her first brick & mortar in Bellaire in December 2020.

Now, this has become the home where all the tamale-making takes place and where she sells dozens and half-dozens to-go - each made with love and care. While Leonar isn't with us today, we know that she is watching over us and making sure we're making tamales just right.

Thank you, Momma!
