What is Juneteenth and why is it celebrated?

Known to some as the country's “second Independence Day,” Juneteenth celebrates the freedom of enslaved people in the United States at the end of the Civil War.

In honor of this historic day, Nia Cultural Center will be at GOFM with a Pre-Juneteenth opening. This event will feature:

  • Live Poetry Performance starting at 10:00 AM

  • Book Giveaways

  • More information about upcoming Juneteenth events
