Wild Turkey Farms

Say hi to Lisa & Kimery!

About Wild Turkey Farms

I was helping my grandfather work a farm since I could walk, I was the free hired hand. Still always had a garden in early adulthood. I was a single parent to an autistic child in my 30’s. In 2008 after struggling with that demanding position her doctor suggested I try to do something give me a break. We were renting a house with some land so I put in a garden, since I enjoyed it. I just kept adding more garden, chickens and more chickens and even milk goats and Rio Grande Turkeys. I absolutely love the turkeys and that’s were the farms name came from.

When did you first get started?

Officially 2009

What inspired you to start your business?

By the end of the summer 2008 my neighbor, who told me as much as they really enjoyed a constant supply of eggs and vegetables every couple of days. They just couldn’t eat it all. She told me I needed to set up a stand in the front yard and sell it. I thought about it that winter and decided a farmer’s market would be a better option with our erratic weekly schedule. I found one that wast too busy to get my feet wet with. In just 2 months I was doing a huge weekly one close to home. And it just grew from there.

What is your favorite thing to make/produce?

Tomatoes and of course eggs even though I don’t lay them.

Where are you from/where did you grow up?

La Porte, TX

Share a fun fact about yourself you'd like your customers to know!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I talk to my chickens and ducks and I sing the them lame songs. And in 2021 my goat Alyssa was the goat with Simone Biles in the opening ceremony video for the US Olympic team later that year. That was my crowing moment, you’d think my kid was in the Olympics.
